D.C. Ethics

Overview

Real estate professionals will undoubtedly come face to face with unexpected ethical dilemmas at various points in their careers. Having a solid understanding of both the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics as well as the ethical duties required of licensees under the D.C. code and regulations can help steer licensees toward ethical conduct and away from violations. The course also includes a number of real-life examples that illustrate how to remain in compliance with the law and put clients' best interests first.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • describe the duties imposed by the National Association of REALTORS® Code of Ethics
  • explain the responsibilities of the administrative entities involved in the supervision of real estate licensees in the
    District of Columbia
  • describe the scope of practice for real estate brokers, salespersons, and property managers
  • explain aspects of agency representation including required disclosures
  • recite the duties of licensees under the D.C. Code of Ethics
  • discuss the compatibility of the D.C. Code of Ethics with D.C. legislation and regulations
