Ohio Core Law

Overview

This course explains recent changes in Ohio law and provides an overview of real estate professionals' duties and responsibilities with respect to disclosure, trust fund handling, complying with licensing laws, and avoiding prohibited activities. It also explores agency relationships, developing written brokerage policies, complying with fair housing laws, and creating lawful advertisements. Numerous case studies highlight what happens when real estate professionals do--and do not--comply with Ohio's rules and regulations.

This course meets the three-hour Core Law mandatory course requirement.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  • explain the process for licensing real estate professionals in Ohio
  • describe the type of activities for which a salesperson's or broker's license is required
  • summarize activities that are prohibited and that may lead to loss of licensure
  • discuss agency relationships in Ohio
  • describe required disclosures to be provided to clients
  • explain the advertising rules that licensees must comply with
