What are the CPA CPE requirements for Hawaii?

  • Total CPE Requirement: 80 hours over 2 years
  • Annual CPE Requirement: 20 hours

Are there any subject area requirements for Hawaii CPA CPE?

CPA Ethics: 4 hours of Ethics CPE

Can CPA CPE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be taken for credit more than once in a 2-year reporting period.

When does CPA CPE have to be completed?

12/31 every odd year

Are there any CPA CPE credit type limits?

  • Published Materials: Maximum 20 hours
  • Instruction: Maximum 40 hours
  • Practice Review: Maximum 20 hours

Can CPA CPE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

A maximum of 40 hours earned in excess of the 80 hour requirement may be carried over to the next reporting period.

What is the Hawaii CPA license renewal process?

Renewal postcard reminders are sent approximately 60 days prior to 12/31. At renewal, applicants will complete the Coursework Form - Certified Public Accountant" form and attach to their renewal document.

What are the WebCE Hawaii CPE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are NASBA QAS self-study with non-monitored open-book final exams. Students should read through course material then complete exam.
  • Passing score: 70%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Hawaii CPE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase.

How often does WebCE report Hawaii CPE course completions?

WebCE does not report CPE course completions to the Hawaii Board of Accountancy.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Hawaii CPE courses?

Online PDF Certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. CPAs should maintain written evidence of completion for a period of 5 years following the completion of each reporting activity.

Are there any CPE exemptions?

The board may issue a permit to practice to any applicant who has not fully complied with the continuing professional education requirement in cases where failure by the applicant to fulfill the requirement has been caused by reason of:
  • Health as certified by a medical doctor
  • Military Service on extended active duty with the armed forces of the United States
  • Other good and valid causes, as determined and approved by the board.
In order to receive and exemption from CPE, a qualifying individual must submit a written request for an exemption to the Board.
