What are the CPA CPE requirements for Kansas?

80 hours over 2 years

Are there any subject area requirements for Kansas CPA CPE?

Ethics: 2 CPE hours


Municipal Public Accountants:
Accounting & Auditing: 16 hours minimum each year, with 8 hours annually devoted to municipal accounting or auditing

When does Kansas CPA CPE have to be completed?

6/30 biennially based on certificate number
(Even Number = Even Years; Odd Number = Odd Years)

Can CPA CPE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be taken for credit more than once in a 2-year reporting period.

Are there any CPA CPE credit type limits?

Instruction: Maximum 40 hours
Personal Development: Maximum 24 hours

Can CPA CPE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Maximum of 20 hours may be carried over to the next reporting period. Ethics CPE credits carried over will not count toward the current ethics requirement.

What is the Kansas CPA license renewal process?

Online permit renewals may be submitted until 11:59 PM on July 31. After that time, all renewals must be submitted in paper form and will be subject to the late fee and possible disciplinary action for practicing without a permit. CPAs are no longer required to provide proof of CPE completion with the renewal application. CPAs chosen as an audit candidate will be notified and have 30 days to submit proof of all of their continuing education hours. CPAs can keep track of their CPE hours using the CPE Report Form.

What are the WebCE Kansas CPE course requirements?

WebCE courses are NASBA QAS self-study with non-monitored open-book final exams. Students should read through course material then complete exam.
Exams require a passing score of 70%.
Note: If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Kansas CPA CPE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase.

How often does WebCE report Kansas CPE course completions?

WebCE does not report CPE course completions to the Kansas Board of Accountancy.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Kansas CPE courses?

Online PDF Certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. CPAs should maintain written evidence of completion for a period of 5 years following the completion of each reporting activity.

What are the Kansas CPA CPE requirements for non-residents?

The board may exempt from the continuing education requirements an individual who holds a permit from another state if:

  • The permit holder has a principal place of business located outside the state of Kansas,
  • The permit holder verifies to the board's satisfaction that such person has met the continuing education requirements of the state in which the principal place of business is located, and
  • The board considers the continuing education requirements of the state in which the principal place of business is located to be substantially equivalent to those of Kansas.
