Louisiana Insurance Renewal

License Term

  • Life, Health, & Accident Producers: will renew the last day of their birth month in even numbered years.
  • Property & Casualty Producers: will renew the last day of their birth month in odd numbered years.
  • Combined Life, Health, & Accident and Property & Casualty Producers: will renew the last day of their birth month in odd numbered years. Producers may complete any combination of LH or PC courses to meet the 24 hour requirement.
  • Adjusters: will renew the last day of their birth month in odd numbered years.

Producer and Adjuster License Renewals are changing in 2018.
  • Producer Renewals: Beginning in 2018, producers will file a single license renewal, which will renew all eligible lines on the license. Licensees will no longer renew in an even or odd year based on the lines of authority on the license. The renewal date will continue to be based on the last day of the birth month but the renewal year will be determined by the license number. Licenses that end in an even number will expire in even-numbered years regardless of lines. Licenses that end in an odd number will expire in odd-numbered years regardless of the lines. The renewal of the license will renew all lines eligible for renewal on the license.
  • Adjuster Renewals: Currently, all adjuster licenses renew in odd years. Individual licensees will continue to renew on the last day of the birth month but the license number will determine the renewal year. Licensees with even- numbered licenses will renew in even years. Licensees with odd-numbered licenses will renew in odd years.

License Renewal Process

  • Louisiana Department of Insurance (LDI) now offers an electronic online renewal system. Individual licensees as well as agencies for both producers and adjusters can now renew at the LDI website.
  • To renew by mail the licensee submits copies of the certificates of completion along with a signed CE statement to the Louisiana Department of Insurance at license renewal. This form is available from the Louisiana Department of Insurance.
