What are the Adjuster Exam Prep requirements for Michigan?

Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education for Adjuster license; however, it is recommended to complete an exam prep course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.

How to get an insurance adjuster license in Michigan

  1. Meet the general eligibility criteria
    • Be at least 18 years of age.
    • Be a resident of Michigan.
  2. Prepare for state licensing exam
    • Use the WebCE Exam Prep courses to better prepare you to pass the state licensing exam.
  3. Register and pass state licensing exam
    • Make an exam reservation at www.psiexams.com
    • Bring two forms of current signature identification (a valid driver’s license, non-driver ID, passport, military ID, or employee ID card, credit card).
    Before making an exam reservation applicants should thoroughly review the State of Michigan Licensing Candidate Handbook. The Candidate Handbook and additional licensing information can be accessed by clicking on the Student Handbook button above.
  4. Apply for a License
    • After passing the exam, apply for your license by completing an application at www.nipr.com.

  • WebCE suggests students pass the open-book non-monitored Exam Prep Practice exam with a score of 70% or higher and then utilize Exam Tutor and Flash Tutor for further practice before your exam day.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Michigan Adjuster Exam Prep courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately upon completion of the pre-license course. Pre-licensing course certificates are valid for one year from date of completion.

What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Michigan?

Non-Resident adjuster applicants must be licensed in the state in which their principle place of residence or business is maintained for all lines of authority requested in Michigan. In addition, if the resident state did not require the successful completion of an examination at the time of licensure, applicants must either take the Michigan examination or provide proof of successful completion of an equivalent examination from a state where they are currently licensed. Applicants who need to take the Michigan examination should refer to our Examination Information page to review the examination requirements for Resident applicants.

File an Electronic Non-Resident Adjuster Licensing (NRAL) application through the National Producer License Registry (NIPR) website. The application/license fee is $15.00 plus a $6.18 transaction fee. An application is good for six months from entry into our database.
