Nevada Insurance Renewal

License Term

The license term is every 3 years based on the license issuance date. The license renewal date is the first day of the month following the license issuance date.

License Renewal Process

Electronic applications and renewals are reviewed and processed on a priority basis. Most electronic submissions are processed within 5 business days. The review and processing time for paper submissions depends on current workload. Please allow a four week review time for application and renewal submissions.Licensees are encouraged to update their address and e-mail information using the electronic services of Sircon or NIPR.

Long-Term Care Partnership Training

State required training for insurance producers that sell long-term care products.

Initial Training
Hours: 8
Frequency: One-time training must be complete prior to selling LTC products.

Ongoing Training
Hours: 4
Frequency: Ongoing training must be completed every license period, following the initial training requirement.

Course Presentation

Producers can take courses through self-study, including Internet, computer-based, and paper courses.

Study Requirements

Self-Study Requirements: Students must read the course material prior to taking a closed-book, proctored final exam.

A course can only be taken for the license held.

Nevada Insurance Continuing Education Exam Requirements

Exam Rules

The final exam is closed book, and no outside information may be used to complete the exam. If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

Monitor Requirements

Exam Proctor Requirements: Closed-book exams must be monitored by disinterested 3rd party. Proctors must not serve for examinations of family members, relatives, or dependents; employers or supervisors; employees or subordinates; partners, joint ventures, or co-owners; or anyone in whom the proctor or instructor has an economic or other interest in assuring the successful outcome of the examination.

Self-Study Final Exam: 70%

Reporting and Nevada Insurance Continuing Education Certificates of Completion

Certificates of Completion

WebCE provides online, printable certificates of completion in Nevada. Certificates of completion will be available to print online immediately after a final exam is passed. The licensee must keep a copy of each certificate of completion in his or her file for 4 years.

No CE may be carried forward to the next license renewal cycle for credit.

Long-Term Care State-Specific Insurance Product Training

Non-resident insurance producers selling, soliciting, or negotiating LTC products in Nevada, who satisfy the training requirements in any other state shall be deemed to satisfy the training requirements in this state.

Exemptions from Nevada Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Insurance CE Exemptions

Licensees are exempt from CE requirements if one of following is true:
  • Non-resident licensees.
  • Individuals holding only a limited license.
  • Individuals who have had 20 years or more of continuous experience, as a primary source of income, in the field of insurance selling, marketing, underwriting, adjusting, practicing law, managing, regulating, or engaging in any combination of these activities.
  • Individuals who have earned CLU, CPCU, CIC, ChFC, or CFP designations.
