How to Renew Your License

1. Check your requirements: be sure to know your renewal deadline, the total numbers of hours to complete and any specialty required courses.
2. Order and complete courses: choose topics you are familiar with and take your courses on your schedule.
3. Pass your exam: once you feel prepared, schedule your licensing exam through the appropriate licensing authority.
4. Pay fees and submit associated paperwork: submit payment of fees and any other paperwork necessary such as certifications of completion, fingerprints, and background checks.

Note: Provisional brokers must complete 90 hours of post-licensing courses within 18 months of initial licensure. WebCE does not currently offer post-licensing courses for North Carolina.

Can Real Estate CE courses be repeated?

Continuing Education courses may be taken only once for continuing education credit within a single license period.

Can Real Estate CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Only 4 elective credit hours may be carried forward to the next license period if no portion of the credit hours for the course were applied toward the CE requirement for the current license period. Thus, carry-over credit may be granted for extra elective courses taken, but not for extra hours in one course.

What is the North Carolina Real Estate license renewal process?

Continuing education must be completed each year between July 1 and June 10.

What are the WebCE North Carolina Real Estate CE course requirements?

WebCE courses are classified as distance education courses.
Students must complete the course and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of at least 60 percent.
If the end-of-chapter quiz is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE North Carolina Real Estate CE courses?

STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE COURSES WITHIN 30 DAYS OF THE DATE OF REGISTRATION OR BY June 10th, WHICHEVER IS EARLIER. Providers are not permitted to offer courses for CE credit between June 11 and June 30 of each year.

How often does WebCE report North Carolina Real Estate CE course completions?

Every business day to the North Carolina Commission.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for North Carolina Real Estate CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the course is completed.

What are the North Carolina Real Estate CE requirements for non-residents?

All non-resident licensees must meet the same CE requirements as in-state licensees, including a mandatory Update course and an approved NC elective course.
