The license term is every 2 years ending on the last day of your birth month. CE requirements must be met on or before the expiration date on your current license.

Exam Rules

The final exam is closed book, and no outside information may be used to complete the exam. If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

Reporting and Pennsylvania Insurance Continuing Education Certificates of Completion

Certificates of Completion

Non-Resident Pennsylvania Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Long-Term Care Training State-Specific Insurance Product Training

  • Before selling, soliciting, or negotiating LTC partnership products, producers must complete an initial 8-hour state-approved training course. *Non-Residents who have completed an NAIC 8-Hour course in another state will be deemed compliant with Pennsylvania's requirement.
  • After completing the initial 8-hour LTC training requirement, producers must complete 4 hour follow-up training course every 24-month compliance period following the initial training. *Non-Residents who have completed an NAIC 4-Hour course in another state will be deemed compliant with Pennsylvania's requirement.

Non-resident Insurance CE Requirements

Non-resident producers and adjusters have special training or education requirements as described above.

Exemptions from Pennsylvania Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

Insurance CE Exemptions

The following licensees are exempt from CE requirements:
  • Producers licensed prior to January 1, 1971, who have been continuously licensed without adding additional lines of authority.
  • Producers whose only line of authority is a limited line.
  • Surplus Lines licensees
  • Non-resident insurance producers excluding Title producers.
  • Individuals exempted by the commissioner due to hardship or good cause such as disability or a medical condition.
  • Individuals who first obtained licenses without examination under Section 609(c) of the Fraternal Benefit Societies Code and whose appointments are limited to fraternal benefit societies.
  • Non-resident Public Adjusters CE requirement will be reciprocal with their home state.
