What are the Real Estate Continuing Education requirements for South Dakota?

All License Types

24 CE hours total

New broker associates must complete 60 hours of post-licensing education courses for first-time license renewal. New property managers must complete 30 hours of post-licensing education courses for first-time license renewal. WebCE does not currently offer post-licensing courses for South Dakota.

Are there any subject area requirements for South Dakota Real Estate CE?

  • Mandatory: 12 CE hours
  • Electives: 12 CE hours

When does South Dakota Real Estate CE have to be completed?

11/30 every two years

Can Real Estate CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

Can Real Estate CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess credit hours may not be carried forward to the next license term.

What is the South Dakota Real Estate license renewal process?

The SC Real Estate Commission will be sending out a mailing at the end of September notifying licensees who are due to renew that they may begin renewing online starting October 1. Applications for renewal are due November 30. All applications received after November 30 through June 30 will be subject to a late fee.

What are the WebCE South Dakota Real Estate CE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are classified as online distance education courses.
  • Students must read the course material and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of at least 60 percent before taking an closed-book non-monitored final exam. Students will not have access to the final exam until the student’s time in the course equals the number of approved credit hours for the course.
  • No more than 8 CE hours can be completed in a 24 hour period
  • Exam passing score: 80%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE South Dakota Real Estate CE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase, unless otherwise posted on the course description page and student dashboard.

How often does WebCE report South Dakota Real Estate CE course completions?

Every business day to the South Dakota Real Estate Commission. It takes up to 6 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates website.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for South Dakota Real Estate CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed.

What are the South Dakota Real Estate CE requirements for non-residents?

Nonresident brokers and salespersons who hold a South Dakota license are exempt from the continuing education requirements if the licensee meets the education requirements in the state of residence.

Are there any CE exemptions?

The SDREC office may make exceptions and grant extensions for continuing education for:
  • Reasons of health, military service or other good cause if proof is provided to the commission office.
