The license term ends on the licensee's date of birth, every 2 years. Even birth years renew every even year. Odd birth years renew every odd year.

Agents who fail to have the required CE credit hours posted prior to their license expiration date will have their insurance license(s) revoked. Providers have 30 days to report your CE completions, so please plan accordingly to avoid a lapse in licensure.

Excess CE hours are not allowed to be carried forward to the next 2-year license term.

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term. Ordering courses with the same course title is considered course repetition.

Producers may complete the Kansas CE requirements through self-study. The self-study course and exam can be either paper or online.

Paper: The student must read the course material prior to taking the proctored final exam.
Online: Students must read the course material and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of 100 percent prior to taking a closed-book, proctored final exam.

• Life/Health or Property/Casualty producers must complete 1 hour in approved ethics courses. All other hours must be completed by taking courses approved only for the line of authority held by the producer.
• Life/Health and Property/Casualty (combined license) producers must complete 2 hours in approved ethics courses. Of the 24-hour requirement, producers must complete 12 hours in approved Life/Health courses (including 1 hour of ethics) and 12 hours in approved Property/Casualty courses (including 1 hour of ethics).
• Excess earned Ethics credits may be applied to cover other CE requirements in the current biennium.
• Crop producers do not have an ethics requirement; therefore all hours must be completed in approved Crop courses.
• Pre-Need only producers can take the required CE hours in approved life and health courses.
• Public Adjusters must complete 1 hour in approved ethics courses. All other hours must be completed in approved property/casualty courses.
• No more than 3 CE credits can be completed by a producer in the area of insurance agency management.

The final exam is closed book, and no outside information may be used to complete the exam. If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

Exam Proctor Requirements: Closed-book exam must be monitored by a disinterested 3rd party. A disinterested third party is an individual with no family or financial relationship to the student; therefore, he or she shall not serve for examinations of family members, relatives, or dependents; employers or supervisors; employees or subordinates; partners, joint ventures, or co-owners; or anyone in whom the proctor or instructor has an economic or other interest in assuring the successful outcome of the examination.

Self-Study Final Exam: 70%

WebCE provides online, printable certificates of completion in Kansas. Certificates of completion will be available to print online immediately after the final exam is passed. The producer must keep a copy of each certificate of completion in his or her files for 4 years.

Next-Day Reporting: WebCE reports course completions every business day to State Based Systems (SBS).

Non-residents who satisfy the training requirements of another state that are similar to Kansas' law will be deemed compliant for Kansas' requirement.

Initial 4-hour LTCP training requirement: All Kansas producers who sell, solicit, or negotiate LTC partnership policies must complete 4 hours of state-approved Kansas LTCP training. Producers may take any NAIC approved LTC course for use in any licensed state.
Ongoing 1-hour LTCP training requirement: After completing the 4-hour initial training requirement, LTCP producers must complete 1 hour of state-approved Kansas LTCP training each 2-year license term thereafter. Producers may take any NAIC approved LTC course for use in any licensed state.
