Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 3 year license term.

Are there any Real Estate CE credit type limits?

  • Distance Learning: Maximum 24 CE hours
  • Live Instruction: Minimum 12 CE hours

Can Real Estate CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Licensees who complete continuing education hours in excess of the requirements for renewal may apply up to 50 percent of the required hours to the following renewal period. Licensees may apply a maximum of 18 hours from the previous renewal period. Licensees cannot carry over any hours toward the mandatory eight-hour law update course or the four-hour ethics course.

What is the Iowa Real Estate license renewal process?

The renewal period for all licenses that expire on December 31 begins in November. Your renewal application should be available at that time when you login into My Iowa PLB. All renewal applications MUST be submitted electronically through your account at "My Iowa PLB." On their renewal application, licensees will either attest to the total number of continuing education hours taken or manually report their continuing education hours. If you do not have your continuing education completed by the expiration date of your license you must renew to inactive status.

What are the WebCE Iowa Real Estate CE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are classified as online distance education courses.
  • Students must read the course material and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of at least 70 percent before taking an open-book non-monitored final exam.
  • Exam passing score: 80%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Iowa Real Estate CE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase, unless otherwise posted on the course description page and student dashboard.

How often does WebCE report Iowa Real Estate CE course completions?

WebCE does not report course completions to the Iowa Real Estate Commission.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Iowa Real Estate CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. The licensee must keep a copy of each certificate of completion in his or her file and provide proof of completion in the event of an audit by the Iowa Real Estate Commission.

What are the Iowa Real Estate CE requirements for non-residents?

Licensees that both reside in and are licensed in the following states will sign an affidavit verifying that they are abiding by that state's continuing education requirements: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Tennessee. All other states must comply with Iowa's 36 hour continuing education requirement.

Are there any CE exemptions?

The following are exempt from Iowa CE requirements:
  • A licensee unable to attend educational offerings because of a disability may make a written request to the commission setting forth an explanation and verification of the disability. Licensees making requests must meet the definition of a person with a disability found in the Americans with Disabilities Act as amended by the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 (ADAAA).
  • No CE is required while license is inactive. However, license must be renewed and renewal fee must be paid. To return to active status, CE must be completed.
