What are the Real Estate Continuing Education requirements for Kentucky?

All License Types

  • Total Requirements: 12 CE hours
  • Annual Requirements: 6 CE hours


Note: New sales associate licensees must complete forty-eight (48) hours of post-license education courses within two (2) years of obtaining a real estate license. WebCE does not currently offer post-licensing courses for Kentucky.

Are there any subject area requirements for Kentucky Real Estate CE?

All License Types

  • Law: 3 CE hours
  • Electives: 3 CE hours
  • Kentucky Core Course: 6 CE hours every 4 years (Core Course will satisfy the 3-hour law + 3-hour elective requirements for licensees in the year that it is taken)

When does Kentucky Real Estate CE have to be completed?

6 CE hours are due by 12/31 annually

Can Real Estate CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in the same calendar year.

Can Real Estate CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess credit hours may not be carried forward to the next license term.

What is the Kentucky Real Estate license renewal process?

All licensees are required to renew by 3/31 every even year. Licensees will receive an email notification from the Commission regarding renewals when they are available. Licensees may renew online through KREC eServices account and pay fees. Active licensees must purchase E&O insurance before renewing. Failure to renew before March 31 of each even-numbered year shall result in the cancellation of the license and additional fees. All continuing education hours must be completed prior to submission of your license renewal with the Commission.

What are the WebCE Kentucky Real Estate CE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are classified as distance education.
    Important Notice: No more than 9 hours worth of final exams can be completed in a 24 hour period.
  • Students must read the course material and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes with a score of at least 60 percent before taking an closed-book non-monitored final exam.
  • Exam passing score: 75%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

How often does WebCE report Kentucky Real Estate CE course completions?

Every business day to the Kentucky Real Estate Commission. It may take up to 10 days before you see the credits post.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Kentucky Real Estate CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed.

Are there any CE exemptions?

The following are exempt from Kentucky CE requirements:
  • Individuals licensed by the commission prior to June 19, 1976.
  • A licensed reciprocal broker shall not be required to attend a continuing education course during the first calendar year in which he or she is first licensed in Kentucky.
  • A licensee shall not be required to attend a continuing education course during the first two (2) calendar years from the date of issuance of an initial sales associate license.
