What are the Adjuster Exam Prep education requirements for Louisiana?

Louisiana does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, it is recommended to complete an exam prep course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.

How to get an insurance adjuster license in Louisiana

  1. Meet the general eligibility criteria
    • Be at least 18 years old
    • Be a US citizen or have a current work authorization.
    • Reside or maintain a principal place of residence in Louisiana
  2. Prepare for state licensing exam
    • Use the WebCE Exam Prep courses to better prepare you to pass the state licensing exam.
  3. Register and pass state licensing exam
    • Make your exam reservation online by accessing PSI’s registration Web site at www.test-takers.psiexams.com/ladi.

      Effective 7/8/24 remote testing will no longer be offered as a testing option for the Louisiana Department of Insurance license candidates. Licensing examinations will be available only at PSI testing locations. Questions can be directed to the Louisiana Department of Insurance at 800-259-5300.
  4. Submit fingerprints
    • The Louisiana State Police (LSP) is transitioning to a new statewide fingerprint vendor IdentoGo/Idemia for the processing of criminal background checks. IdentoGO locations for Livescan fingerprinting are available throughout Louisiana. Insurance license applicants can schedule an appointment to be printed at a convenient IdentoGO location and time.For more instructions on how to schedule a fingerprinting appointment with IdentoGO/Idemia, please visit the Louisiana Department of Insurance website at https://www.ldi.la.gov/industry/producer-adjuster/license-application/fingerprinting-requirements
  5. Apply for a License
    • After passing your licensing exam, Submit application through NIPR.

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after passing the WebCE course exam. Certificates are for personal records and is not required for the state exam.

What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Louisiana?

Non-resident license candidates may obtain a Louisiana producer license, as long as they are currently licensed as a resident in their home state and in compliance with continuing education requirements in their home state.
