Are there any subject area requirements for Montana Insurance CE?

Limited Lines

All other hours can be in insurance law, ethics, or topics specific to surety bail bonds, prepaid legal insurance, or limited lines credit insurance.

Are there any course approval restrictions for Montana Insurance CE?

Licensees may take courses in any line of authority. (Limited lines credit only is an exception to this rule; see Subject Area Requirement above)

When does Montana Insurance CE have to be completed?

The last day of the licensee's birth month, every 2 years, based on odd/even birth year.

Can Insurance CE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

What are the Annuity Training requirements for Montana?

Frequency: One-time training of a 4-Hour Annuity Suitability and Best Interest Standards course must be complete prior to selling annuity products.

Can Insurance CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess CE hours are not allowed to be carried forward to the next 2-year license term.

What is the Montana Insurance license renewal process?

Resident licensees do not renew their license. The licensee must complete their CE requirements on or before the license expiration date in order to maintain a valid insurance license. To renew your resident adjuster, consultant or surplus lines license, please visit www.NIPR.com.

What are the WebCE Montana Insurance CE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are classified as online self-study courses.
  • Students must read the course material for each course before attempting a final exam.
  • Self-study exams are closed-book and do not require a monitor.
  • Final exam passing score: 70%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Montana Insurance CE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase, unless otherwise posted on the course description page and student dashboard.

How often does WebCE report Montana Insurance CE course completions?

Immediately upon course completion to State-Based Systems (SBS)

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Montana Insurance CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the course is completed. Licensees must keep a copy of each certificate of completion in his or her files for 3 years.

What are the Montana Insurance CE requirements for non-residents?

  • Nonresident producers who have completed their CE requirements in their home state and remain in good standing are not subject to Montana’s CE requirements. All nonresidents must submit a letter of certification from their home state to the Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance stating that they are in compliance. If the producers home state does not have a CE requirement the producer is subject to Montana’s CE requirement. Montana nonresident producers must submit the renewal compliance form sent to them by the state prior to the license expiration date.
  • Non-resident adjusters are not required to completed the Montana CE requirements as long as the adjuster home state requires individuals to complete CE. If the home state does not have a CE requirements, adjusters will be required to meet Montana's CE requirement or another licensed state that requires CE.

Are there any CE exemptions?

Licensees are exempt from CE requirements if one of following is true:
  • The licensee holds a temporary license.
  • The licensee has been otherwise exempted by the Montana commissioner.
