How to get an insurance license in Louisiana
Meet the general eligibility criteria
Be at least 18 years of age.
Must be a US citizen or have a current work authorization.
Reside or maintain a principal place of residence in Louisiana.

The Louisiana State Police (LSP) is transitioning to a new statewide fingerprint vendor IdentoGo/Idemia for the processing of criminal background checks. IdentoGO locations for Livescan fingerprinting are available throughout Louisiana. WebCE suggests students pass the closed-book non-monitored Exam Prep Practice exam with a score of 70% or higher and then utilize Exam Tutor and Flash Tutor for further practice before your exam day.
What is the access period for WebCE Louisiana Insurance Exam Prep courses?
90 days from the date of purchase. One additional extension for an additional 90 days can be purchased for $50.
How often does WebCE report Louisiana Insurance Exam Prep course completions?
Louisiana Division of Insurance no longer requires course completions to be reported to PSI.
Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Louisiana Insurance Exam Prep courses?
Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after passing the WebCE course exam. Certificates are for personal records and is not required for the state exam.
What is the process to transfer an insurance license to Louisiana?
New residents will not be required to take the license examination as long as:
You are currently licensed in previous home state
A license application is submitted to the Department within 90 days of cancellation of previous home state license.
Are in good standing in previous home state or were licensed in good standing for line of authority requested in the state’s producer database records.
What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Louisiana?
Non-resident license candidates may obtain a Louisiana producer license, as long as they are currently licensed as a resident in their home state and in compliance with continuing education requirements in their home state.
Are there any Louisiana insurance product specific training requirements?
Before selling, soliciting or negotiating the following products, insurance license holders are required to complete the training outlined below. These training hours can be used toward the total CE hours required to renew the license.
