What are the Funeral Continuing Education requirements for Maine?

Courses cannot be repeated more than once in a 2 year license term.

Online distance education: Maximum of 6 hours

Can Funeral CE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess hours earned in one license term may not be carried forward to a subsequent license term.

What is the Maine Funeral license renewal process?

Licensees are required to renew their licenses 2/28 annually. The Department must verify that you have met all the conditions for renewal before your license is renewed. Online submission of your renewal application should not be construed as automatic renewal of your license.

What are the WebCE Maine Funeral CE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are online approved self-study courses with non-monitored open-book final exams. Students should read through the course material then complete the exam.
  • Passing score: 70%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Maine Funeral CE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase

How often does WebCE report Maine Funeral CE course completions?

WebCE does not report course completions to the Maine Board of Funeral Service.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Maine Funeral CE courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. Licensees should keep all certificates a minimum of 4 years for state auditing purposes.

What are the Maine Funeral CE requirements for non-residents?

Non-resident licensees practicing in Maine should complete the CE requirement for their home state, and if requested by the board, provide their certificates of completion as proof of CE compliance.

Are there any CE exemptions?

Licensee on inactive status (meaning a licensed funeral director who is retired from practicing and not currently practicing embalming or funeral directing). Licensees who apply for inactive status during the 3 months prior to expiration of license must comply with the CE requirement during the year which inactive status application is made.
