What are the Adjuster Exam Prep education requirements for Alabama?
Alabama does not require licensing candidates to complete prelicensing education; however, it is recommended to complete an exam prep course before attempting to take your state’s licensing exam.
How to get an insurance adjuster license in Alabama

Meet the general eligibility criteria
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a US citizen or have a current work authorization.
- Reside or maintain a principal place of residence in Alabama.

Prepare for state licensing exam

Register and pass state licensing exam
- Make an exam reservation through the University of Alabama.
Before making an exam reservation applicants should thoroughly review the State of Alabama Licensing Candidate Handbook. The Candidate Handbook and additional licensing information can be accessed by clicking on the Student Handbook button above.
- Bring a current form of identification (a valid driver’s license, non-driver ID, passport, military ID, or employee ID card).

Submit fingerprints
- After successfully completing the examination course, applicants must complete a fingerprint background check, an online application, and submit Proof of Citizenship. The fingerprint background check can be completed by visiting Fieldprint Alabama and should be completed at least one day prior to applying for your license.

Apply for a License
- The online license application should be completed at online application. The Adjuster applications fee will be $100.00 and paid by credit card online. Visa, MasterCard, and American Express payments will be accepted. A $5.00 NIPR transaction fee will be charged for each initial and renewal transaction on top of the required state fee, for all license types. NIPR FEES ARE NONREFUNDABLE. Please allow 3-5 business days for your Line of Authority to appear on NIPR under “Apply for License.”

Print License
- After 5 days from submitting application, check the Alabama Department of Insurance website, and go to the License Search under Producers/Agents to confirm issuance of your license. Once a license is issued, you may print your license from the home page.

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after passing the WebCE course exam. Certificates are for personal records and is not required for the state exam.
What is the process to obtain a non-resident insurance license in Alabama?
Non-resident license candidates may obtain an Alabama producer license, without having to take a license examination, as long as they are currently hold an active license in their resident state for the same lines of authority for which they are applying.
- Apply through NIPR Online Process: for non-resident applicants who hold any type of resident license in their home state.
- Apply through SBS Online Process: for non-resident applicants who hold rental vehicle, legal services, dental services, credit, personal lines, and motor club lines of authority and do not hold any type of license in your home state.
Non-resident applicants are no longer required to provide certification letters from their home state.
