What are the Insurance Exam Prep education requirements for Arkansas?

Individuals must complete a pre-licensing course of study for the lines of authority desired before taking any examination. The prelicensing course must consist of 20 hours per line of authority on the general principles of insurance for that line of authority. The lines of authority requiring a pre-licensing course are as follows:
  • Life – 20 hours
  • Health and Accident – 20 hour
  • Life, Health, and Accident – 40 hours
  • Property – 20 hours
  • Casualty – 20 hours
  • Property and Casualty – 40 hours
  • Surplus Lines - does not require a pre-license course, but applicants must be licensed in P&C for 3 years prior to taking exam

How to get an insurance license in Arkansas

  1. Meet the general eligibility criteria
    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Must be a US citizen or have a current work authorization.
    • Reside or maintain a principal place of residence in Arkansas.
  2. Spend a minimum of 20 hours studying per line of authority
    • Prelicense education providers are required to record the actual time the applicant spends in the course and not allow access to the certificate of completion until the applicant's time equals the number of required hours for the LOA.
    • To satisfy the Life/Health and Property/Casualty course requirements, you will need to pass Exam Prep Course Certification Exam with a 70% or greater.
    • When making a licensing exam reservation, applicants will be required to provide the WebCE Arkansas provider school code number 12801. After passing the Certification Exam, you will be able to download a PDF Certificate of Completion which is valid for two years from the date of completion; you will need to take and pass your state exam within this timeframe.
  3. Apply for a License
    • Applicants must apply for their license before taking the State exam.
    • Complete the Electronic Resident Licensing at www.nipr.com and pay application fee to NIPR.
  4. Complete the Criminal Background Check
    • State of Arkansas Backgound Check
    • Your application will be reviewed for completeness and errors by AID. Upon approval to test, you will receive an email confirmation from PSI.
  5. Register and pass state licensing exam
    • Make an exam reservation at www.psi.com or by calling 800-733-9267.
      Before making an exam reservation applicants should thoroughly review the State of Arkansas Licensing Candidate Handbook. The Candidate Handbook and additional licensing information can be accessed by clicking on the Student Handbook button above.
    • Bring two forms of current signature identification (a valid driver’s license, non-driver ID, passport, military ID, or employee ID card, credit card) and a copy of your prelicensing education Certificate of Completion on exam day. The prelicensing education Certificate of Completion is valid for two year from the date of completion.
  6. Print your License
    • 24 hours after successfully passing the state examination, you may print your license at www.nipr.com

What are the WebCE Arkansas Insurance Exam Prep course requirements?

  • Per Arkansas PLE requirements, applicants are required to complete all of the lessons and answer each set of end-of-chapter quizzes prior to taking an closed-book final exam.
    Please Note: Pre-license education providers are required to record the actual time the applicant spends in the course and not allow access to the certificate of completion until the applicant's time equals the number of required hours for the LOA.
  • Students should pass the closed-book final exam with a score of 70% or higher.
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
  • WebCE suggest to then utilize Exam Tutor and Flash Tutor for further practice before your exam day.

What is the access period for WebCE Arkansas Insurance Exam Prep courses?

90 days from the date of purchase. One additional extension for an additional 90 days can be purchased for $50.

How often does WebCE report Arkansas Insurance Exam Prep course completions?

WebCE does not report exam prep course completions as the Arkansas Department of Insurance does not require course completions to be reported.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Arkansas Insurance Exam Prep courses?

Online PDF certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. Pre-licensing course certificates are valid for two years from date of completion.

What is the process to transfer an insurance license to Arkansas?
