Colorado's Acceptance: WebCE® courses meet the NASBA/AICPA CPE Standards, and therefore are accepted by the Colorado State Board.

What are the CPA CPE requirements for Colorado?

80 hours over 2 years

Are there any subject area requirements for Colorado CPA CPE?

CPA Ethics: Minimum 4 hours
Colorado Rules & Regulations:
  • If newly licensed, a CR&R course is required to be completed within 6 months of licensure
  • A maximum of 2 hours in CR&R may be used for Ethics

When does Colorado CPA CPE have to be completed?

1/1 of an even year to 12/31 of odd years

Can CPA CPE courses be repeated?

Courses cannot be taken for credit more than once in a 2-year reporting period.

Are there any CPA CPE credit type limits?

  • Published Materials and teaching: Maximum 40 hours combined
  • Personal Development: Maximum 16 hours, behavioral ethics is not considered personal development.
Excess CR&R course credit will not be considered CR&R or Ethics CPE, instead excess hours will count as Specialized Knowledge.

Can CPA CPE course hours carry over to the next renewal cycle?

Excess hours earned in a CPE cycle may not be carried forward to a subsequent CPE cycle.

What is the Colorado CPA license renewal process?

Licensees can renew their license online at any time during their renewal period. Renewal periods end on 12/31 of odd years. CPAs are required to attest compliance with CPE requirements at renewal. If audited, they must submit CPE documentation within 30 days of the request.

What are the WebCE Colorado CPE course requirements?

  • WebCE courses are NASBA QAS self-study with non-monitored open-book final exams. Students should read through course material then complete exam.
  • Passing score: 70%
  • If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.

What is the access period for WebCE Colorado CPE courses?

12 months from the original date of purchase, unless otherwise posted on the course description page and student dashboard. Due to regulatory guidelines, access to courses CANNOT BE EXTENDED past 12 months from the original date of purchase.

How often does WebCE report Colorado CPE course completions?

WebCE does not report CPE course completions to the Colorado State Board of Public Accountancy.

Does WebCE supply a certificate of completion for Colorado CPE courses?

Online PDF Certificates of completion are available to print immediately after the final exam is passed. CPAs should maintain written evidence of completion for a period of 5 years following the completion of each reporting activity.

Are there any CPE exemptions?

A CPA may request in writing an exemption from the CPE requirement prior to renewal. The Board will decide on a case-by-case basis whether good cause has been demonstrated to waive the CPE. Exceptions may be made for reasons of:

  • Health
  • Military service
  • Other good cause.
