NEARLY 1,800 ATTEND 36th IRMI
CONSTRUCTION RISK CONFERENCE
Orlando, Florida, November 10, 2016—Nearly 1,800
construction risk and insurance professionals convened in Orlando, Florida,
from November 6 through November 9 for the 36th IRMI Construction Risk
Conference (CRC).
The IRMI Construction Insurance Conference began
in 1982 with fewer than 150 insurance buyers and met twice a year. It has grown
into CRC—the only national symposium devoted exclusively to managing, insuring,
and bonding the risks of construction projects. This year’s CRC featured 3
general sessions and 27 sessions presented by more than 60 nationally
recognized insurance, risk management, safety, and surety experts.
Contractors large and small sent their risk, insurance, and safety managers.
In addition, virtually all of the major providers of insurance or surety
services were represented, and a substantial number of risk managers
representing project owners (i.e., companies with large construction projects
planned or under way) attended.
“The trending topics at this year’s Conference were onerous contract
provisions, the pros and cons of owner versus contractor controlled insurance
programs, managing the risks of drones, and trends in additional insured
coverage,” said IRMI President, CEO, and Conference Cochairman Jack Gibson.
“The IRMI Conference provides unique opportunities for contractors, their
brokers, and their underwriters to meet and plan for the coming year. As a
result, this Conference has become a must-attend event for proactive risk
managers and those in the insurance industry who serve them.”
The 37th CRC will be held November 5–8, 2017, in Indianapolis, Indiana. For
